Every budding writer needs a place to express himself, right?  This is where I'll spout off on the things that are on my mind... usually music, web development, and whatever else blows my mind.

Be forewarned, the language could get kinda colorful in here.  Young eyes should begin shielding now.

Quality, Price, & Speed: Which Two Do You Want?

Today at work, my manager and I were talking a bit about a last-minute project that came in.  The client, of course, wants it all: an amazing site, priced next-to-nothing, and they want it done yesterday.  During the conversation, he said something to the effect of "Quality, Price, & Speed: which two do you want?"  I realized just how true that sentiment is.

I recently received an email from Hugo asking me for some advice on using jQuery with Joomla.

He writes:

jQuery Plugin 'IE6 Crash': Irresponsible and foolish
technical
Wednesday, 31 March 2010 18:56

What the hell is wrong with people?   I've been seeing twitter-chatter all day long about a new jQuery plugin called 'IE6 Crash'.  It is described in the jQuery Plugin repository as:

A jQuery plugin for crashing IE6. That'll teach those motherf!%@*#s to upgrade their s#*t.

Joomla and jQuery

As I've mentioned previously, I am absolutely in love with jQuery, and have been using and abusing the hell out of it in my day-job, and have even been spending my leisure time reading everything I can get into my beady little eyes on the subject of jQuery.  It, combined with continually advancing versions of HTML, XHTML, and CSS, is helping to make the web a better place for both developers and designers.  I've all but discontinued using Flash.  I'm still using it as a media player and for occasional other necessary applications, but with HTML-5's implementation of the <audio> and <video> tags, I can see myself using it less and less over time.

Goodbye Grandma
personal
Thursday, 07 January 2010 20:34

My grandmother passed away this past week, on the last day of 2009 ... just before noon on New Year's Eve.  She was 88 years old, and lived a long wonderful life  She had four kids, 7 grandkids, and 3 great-grandkids with a 4th on the way.  She passed only hours after a visit with my cousin and his pregnant wife who came from Hawaii to see her.  She held on, just to get to meet her 4th great-grandchild, gently touching that little bump of a zygot, my cousin's wife just barely showing at about 4 or 5 months.  In the last moments, she called for my grandfather, kissed him and told him she loved him, and then she passed away.

Excitement over jQuery

Ok, so while I'm here in this new blog mode (this reminds me of the famed honeymoon period of many an ill-fated marriage), I just want to take a minute to talk about the most exciting thing to me in the world of web development: jQuery.  I only recently discovered jQuery (yes, I know I'm behind the times), and am continually in awe over how wonderful it is.

Best X-Mas a Jew Ever Had
ramblings

I've been meaning to add a blog to this website for quite some time now.  I'm a tad loquacious, so this seems the perfect place to get a bunch of excess rambling off my chest, regardless of the audience size.

In this inaugural entry, I'd like to discuss what I've been calling 'the best christmas a jew ever had'.
